No one who is pro-EU can remotely describe themselves as 'left wing'. After the capitalist class (and their lickspittle toadies) the bulk of pro-EU support comes from right-of-centre Social Democrats such as our own dear Herr Tubthumper. Not that 'left wing' means what it used to these days.

Yes, because we'd sub-contracted it out! There was no point in us making any of our own laws in areas where they'd be overruled by European directives. It would be an utter waste of time for all concerned. Far simpler just to implement the ones we are given.

That's all well and good. But if we weren't in the EU we could just have easily drafted that legislation ourselves. As it is all we've done is pay someone to make our laws for us.
