It's worked for a lot of young keepers but unless he's guaranteed first team football then in our currant situation there's no advantage to us and it leaves us looking for another keeper.
Probably the way we rushed out and signed Al Habsi on loan and through him straight into the Bournemouth game, I can understand the reluctance to give Walton his league debut against the divisions form team and live on tv but it didn't give me the impression that Ankergren was rated that highly...
Unless we are going to sign another keeper to challenge Stockdale for the first team spot then I see no advantage to the club in sending Walton out on loan as it would leave us short of cover, especially as Ankergren is obviously not rated.
Would a league 1 or 2 side be prepared to take a 19yr old with 3 first team appearances to his name as a first choice keeper though? I've got my doubts and a loan deal would probably see him spending time as a back up keeper which he already does here.
