There are times I wonder if we really do want to sign these players? or whether we do just enough to get ourselves linked to them to make it look like the club are trying to sign some quality players when in reality the aim all along is just to bring in a few loans?
Sometimes you have to pay a bit over the odds to sign a player or you end up missing out altogether, With Stephens injured, Crofts suspended and fitness doubts over Toko we're not exactly blessed with midfield options at the moment either.
I agree it's the proper approach not to go throwing silly money around but I'm not convinced under investing in the squad is the right approach either, There has to be a fine balance that doesn't leave you starting the season on the back foot because of the lack of signings and a small squad.
