Hang on. I have had a thought.
If it is ALL about the charity and not individuals then why are people moaning about who plays and who dosn't? If it is all about supporting the good cause I would expect them to do that REGARDLESS of who plays...
No it isn't. The team knew in advance the squad had not been named. Hence why I didn't ask any of my friends, colleagues, or family for sponsorship until I found out I was playing.
The joint page going up when it did was, as I have said already, for people who just want to sponsor the team...
Ok.
a) that means 11 players who have never met, let alone played together.
and
b) What happens to the sponsorship of the players who are NOT in the top fundraisers? I would love trying to get sponsorship by telling people "Right, I might play in a charity game. I might not. Can I have some...
Just out of interest. How would anyone KNOW who would raise the money given that it is only players in the squad who ask for sponsorship? Unless people jump the gun and collect sponsors PRIOR to the announcement.
Oh, and before people go "Well, why did you have a joint page up etc" it was, as...
Not really anything to do with me.
If you want it back (which I think is more than fair enough) I would ask Gareth or Brett (who is admin of the justgiving page I think).
Anyhow. This is my last post on this subject. I was only really trying to balance out the criticism of Rumble / the team...
I think these 'so and so should be playing because I sponsored him' arguments could easily have been avoided if people just waited until the team was named before sponsoring anyone...
Amen to that.
Although team meeting clearly not necessary. The players have all accepted whether or not they are playing with good spirit.
Lets move on eh?
Peace out posters.
I think perhaps people percieve us all to be a bunch of mates who go on the piss together every week.
Outside the REMF, I would be surprised if more than four or five of the team EVER hung out - particularly as plenty of the team don't live in Brighton anymore.
To date. When the team hadn't been announced.
And I would not suggest Rumble has anything to explain or ANYONE to justify it to.
It might also be worth pointing out that a couple of the players mentioned were filling in last year for people injured or unfortunately on holiday.
No worries.
I just know picking the team was probably a bit of a headache etc and it is a bit late to change it all for this year now everyone has been told so don't see how having a moan is very constructive.
Big love fella.
The comment was not necessarily just aimed at you Simster for starters.
But I am assuming some people given money over and perhaps now the team has been selected are annoyed certain people are not in it.
That is fair enough. Not arguing with that for a second.
Although, I guess they could...
Did something for the matchday programme a couple of weeks back and have asked if I can do a bigger, proper feature nearer the time.
Looks positive.
Any help contacting local press etc needed just ask. I know people at most local rags I can bombard with press releases.
I am not getting the hump with you GG. I think we are singing from the same songsheet.
It is more with people having a pop who, I suspect, have ulteria motives for suddently kicking off about how who raises the most money should be playing etc.
I think last year benefited from more people using things like justgiving rather than asking friends at work.
The selection process was no different. The team was picked and everyone fundraised from there.
No different this time round, so maybe people should see what we raise before sticking...
Well. In my experience of the day, which admitedly has only been the last four years on the playing side, the majority of the cash raised was done so by entry fees, raffle etc.
Players had the responsibility to, once selected, try and raise as much money as they could and pay about £20 each in...
