11/12 and 18/19 July. Galatasaray weren't in that though - teams enter at different stages based on ranking.
The first qualifying round wasn't the start of it. Before that, there was a preliminary round where four clubs you've never heard of played semi-finals and a final in Iceland. The winner...
It's possible.
They play Zalgris from Lithuania this week and next in the second qualifying round. You'd expect them to win that.
They'll then enter the third qualifying round with some better sides, but you'd still expect them to get through which will take them into the group stages proper...
I must admit that for all the years he's been digging his Selhurst Park escape tunnel, I didn't think it would see him emerge blinking into the sunlight in Turkey of all places.
I had him as a bit too much of a homeboy for that.
Was this the best (or only) Champions League offer he had?
In the last year of his contract - could this finally be the year?
Chelsea consider late bid for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha >>> https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/wilfried-zaha-transfer-chelsea-crystal-palace-b2154515.html
They'd do well to remember that he has already scored as many goals in the league this season, as he did in the whole of last season.
Ok, ok, that number is only 4 (four) and 3 (three) of them were penalties, but this could be his season*!
* - for doing very little but scoring the odd penalty
It was a decent decent strike, but the 5Live pundits suggested the keeper would have been disappointed not to get something on it, as it went right over him.
Not sure if they're being harsh or not.
Exactly my thought so I clicked through to read more - something about renting them out to those travelling on business, so, presumably, AirBnB or similar short-term rentals - a market that now doesn't exist.
It's irrelevant though - it's a very decent gesture that he didn't need to do.
Forgive me for dismissing the valuation of a website I’ve never heard of before.
I could create a player valuation website in a few hours. It wouldn’t mean the valuations are in any way accurate.
Agreed.
It’s not dissimilar to the “Maupay for £40m” thing. As our only consistent goal threat, his value to us is likely higher than any one would currently reasonably offer.
I'm not sure there's a great deal of difference between Palace/Zaha and Albion/Dunk.
In both cases the player is worth more to their current club than most are likely to want to pay.
Zaha has already lowered his sights, it seems, and his belief that he will light up the Champions League...
