That's quite something because my experience of bread in the US is that it's generally pretty shit (See also: cheese and chocolate). Plenty of times I'd have killed for a slice of white bread!
(Having been a veggie for over 25 years, BBQ places have had limited appeal for me when I'm over there!)
Yeah I saw the burger picture and the comment on the use of an English muffin. I've long thought that combo is a good one though, so let it pass.
And white sliced bread can be one of life's great things, of course - just a bit of a surprise to see it on that platter!
Wondering how the bread conversation went there...
"An artisanal sour dough will really pair well with the rest of our offering"
"**** that. Cheap sliced white is the way forward."
I'm not sure that's the case. Both the good Herr and I are fans of New York's Spotted Pig and, although it lost its star, it held it for 10+ years with a punky gastropub vibe with very informal service, often delivered by tattooed and pierced youngsters.
You could counter that with "well maybe...
Unleash hell on the *****.
I say that not because of your experience, but when I went to their website to view the menu, they made me download a Word document. A ****ing Word document. In 2018. **** off.
You're in a country where many servers live or die on their tips and you didn't leave a tip on an "8/10 excellent meal" because you had to ask for cutlery?
That says far more about you than both the restaurant and the server. When I read examples like this, I understand why Brits can have such...
We returned to The Dining Room in Worthing for brunch today.
The menu is all a bit different to the usual (in Worthing at least) with items such as Corn pancakes, streaky bacon & dulce-de-leche.
Shashuka for me - a middle Eastern dish of eggs in a thick, rich tomato-y sauce, served with some...
Yes, you're right, it's a pairing. Not sure why I wrote flight.
I'd expect a flight of something to be served together at one time, whereas with the pairing each drink is delivered at a particular time to be consumed alongside a specific dish.
Me too! Best part of 35 years ago it was out stopping off point for dinner on the way back home from swimming lessons at the Gateway Building Society (later Woolwich Building Society) pool. Cod Roe and chips and home just in time for Question of Sport (Emlyn Hughes and Bill Beaumont era).
Funnily enough, I drove past there last night and thought I need to check out the menu. In my mind, every time I've seen it, I had it filed under the category of "food for old people".
Was that shortly after they opened? Maybe going through a teething spell, possibly.
I'd suggest giving it another go if you get the chance. Another friend who was a long-term fan of Crescent Road Cafe also went for the first time recently and really enjoyed it, which was why we took the plunge...
The Dining Room (Worthing) - http://www.the-dining-room.co.uk/
I was a long-time fan of Crescent Road Cafe, which used to be in these premises, but I had been slightly put off visiting The Dining Room by their initial "Private Dining Club" type concept, but with that idea being withdrawn and...
