Nah - slap a shirt sponsor's logo on that, one where there needs to be clear white space between the logo and the stripes, and it's a different thing completely.

From what I can see, from only a few seconds looking, is the kids' shirt comes without a sponsor on it, presumably because it's gambling.

Agreed. The home shirt HAS to be stripes and that poses problems with the Amex logo, leading to the rubbery panel.
The away kit can be a solid colour, permitting separate letters, which is far more pleasing to the eye.
