Popped into Worthing's Fiordilatte a couple of days ago and the pizza was as fantastic as ever.
I'm always amazed to see so many people walking past en route to Pizza Express when there are a few excellent and authentic independents pretty much next door.
I read your review last night Eshe and thought you'd missed the point with the burger and fries as both your description and the pictures suggest that the restaurant is just being a bit playful with their presentation of the burger dish: it looks like McDonalads, but it's a long way from...
Ah, I'd not spotted that. Opening a restaurant in Brighton next year. Maybe that's Brighton's first star en route.
In the meantime, this looks interesting: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/gillan-on-the-beach-tickets-27914716669
We've been to both Tristan and The Pass. Both good, but we were far more wowed at the latter. I'm no great judge of these things, but I feel surprised that they've lost theirs.
Off to research Gravetye Manor now...
I just noticed this and thought I'd flag it up, in case it appeals to anyone.
"To break the year up as we countdown to another Brighton’s Best restaurant awards, we’re proud to announce OctoberBest, a new festival will highlight Brighton's exciting restaurant scene this autumn.
From the 17th...
I said it "reads as if it's been written by someone who doesn't have English as a first language" not it "reads as if it's been written by someone who doesn't have English as a first, second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth language."
Looks a good place. I've made a mental note to visit.
Strange website though. Quite pretty but the text has numerous errors and, additionally, often reads as if it's been written by someone who doesn't have English as a first language.
I've already got it on my list based on your recommendation. I'll say though, from what I remember when I looked at the menu before, that it's slightly different from Wahaca in that it's a bit more of a conventional starter/main type of setup as opposed to Wahaca's smaller tapas type dishes.
It's because all those who have moved down from London can add it to their list of things they don't miss about London when speaking to their friends who still live in London.
Good summary, that.
Curiously, I doubt we'll go there much, if at all, with the kids as they'll always choose Yo! or...
Having eaten at Wahaca in London a few times as well as in Bristol, I'm not sure it will for some time. Getting a table quickly doesn't seem to happen often and many folk are happy to wait it out for one.
Agree with your sentiments on the food though - not had a bad meal in one yet.
I'd be surprised if you were disappointed. We sat at the pass there, which gave an extra dimension, watching the chefs go about their work and being able to talk to them about the dishes they were preparing. I appreciate it might not be for everyone.
Just a quick note to say I discovered Foodie Eshé a little while ago when I noticed this excellent home-made Albion Guess Who?
It's a really lovely written and nicely photographed Brighton food blog and I look forward to their updates appearing in my Inbox. I've invited Eshé and Simon to share...
Really enjoyed that and, as Machiavelli says, tremendous value currently. I think they've got a bit of scope to edge those prices higher.
We sat at the pass and the chefs were entertaining, engaging and really added to the enjoyment of the evening.
The veggie menu on their website wasn't quite...
