Dunk to join Fulham this week?

I'm told he didn't refuse to play against Fulham. I have no idea about Southend as I didn't ask. I reckon it's 50/50 right now. If I was 23, and knew I could triple my pay taking me up to c£1m per year then I certainly wouldn't think twice and I'd be off. But if Fulham have resorted to other...

Dunk to join Fulham this week?

A decent source suggested to me that the story that Fulham had offered £5m was "absolute bollocks". That's not to say... 1. They've offered something close to £5m. 2. They might offer £5m in the future. Who knows? Not me, that's for sure.

Dunk to join Fulham this week?

All very sensible but completely ignores wages.

Dunk to join Fulham this week?

I think that's the way it's supposed to work but I imagine in many (most?) deals, some form of club/agent discussion is held to validate a deal is worth pursuing.

Dunk to join Fulham this week?

I don't know. However, one version of current events is that he is on £6k and Fulham have offered c£20k. My point stands though: a lot of people ignore the impact of wages on playing budgets, which becomes greater if one 'expensive' player is sold and people claim the funds could buy 2, 3 or 4...

Dunk to join Fulham this week?

Without going into specifics it is, as ever, not just about transfer fees. Example: 1. Sell Dunk on, say, £6k/week for £5m. Effect on playing budget over 3 years = +£5.94m 2. Buy a winger for £1.5m on, say £12k/week. Effect on playing budget over 3 years = -£3.37m 3. Buy a CB for £1m on, say...

Dunk to join Fulham this week?

What if a Championship club offers us £50m for him? Silly figure, I know, but I'm illustrating a point. There is an unknown value where the club go "that's a decent return, we'll take that." What is Lewis Dunk says he wants to leave to a Championship club, presumably for a big pay rise? What if...

Dunk to join Fulham this week?

He's doing a job. Another employer might offer him twice as much as his current wage. The other employer is relatively local meaning he won't need to uproot his family. Why wouldn't anyone in this position consider changing jobs? What is certain is that if Lewis Dunk remains an Albion...
