Have clubs EVER announced that they expect to conclude a deal for player X before? It looks dead and buried for us with this one and I have absolutely no inside knowledge at all, but it all smells a bit fishy.

Or, perhaps, the Clayton deal is where it is because the club have been acting (quietly and professionally in the background as always stated).

Players and agents can't agree deals with clubs until their owning club give them permission to speak to that club.

Why is a hotel of any appeal to a player? Your town may be grim, but not so grim as they'd choose not to live in a house, surely? If your club is so good - why do next to no one come to see them play? I've been to your ground and it's desperately depressing to see those few hardy souls rattling...
