A word about NSC and ads and stuff

We're the number 1 football messageboard in the world based on Tapatalk usage. Seems about 300 people per day if the Tapatalk stats are right. Most from iOS, naturally. No idea on the revenue side as I'm always tinkering with the ads, although mainly for non-logged in users as, somewhat...

A word about NSC and ads and stuff

I've already moved all of the BB stuff over so there's not much here. Moderating is going to be more vigilant which, combined with the uprated profanity filter means we shouldn't get any dodgy old stuff lurking.

A word about NSC and ads and stuff

NSC earns some money from ads just being there and some for being clicked upon. We have no idea which is which. Some clicks earn more than others - again we have no idea which ones are more lucrative. I would never encourage people to just wildly click on an advert. If it's something that...

A word about NSC and ads and stuff

Oh, and how much do we need Google? Currently, we need them very much. NSC is currently losing £15 a day. Do the maths to work out the impact of that over a year. Other revenue generating avenues are and will be explored, but for now Google Adsense is a critical part of the NSC support...

A word about NSC and ads and stuff

No. Adsense is my currently preferred revenue generating tool for NSC as it requires very little administration (ie my time) and is highly effective. Adsense has a number of rules relating to the content that they will advertise against. I believe we can meet those easily without diluting the...

It's a work in (slow) progress. Watch this space. Moving all threads in the next few minutes. I'll then start bringing back the recent football related threads. Keep it clean from now on please.

Probably not, no. But that's the slightly bizarre thing about the way Adsense works - gambling content is not permitted, but gambling ads may be presented by Adsense on our pages. Indeed my Adsense control panel says that 6% of the ads presented on NSC are gambling ones.

Those are the Adsense rules, as simple as that. What I can say is we have never been warned for gambling content and in the States there is a definite softening on gambling going on right now, so maybe it's not seen as a priority area for Google.

The Google Adsense content guidelines are as follows... Pornography, adult or mature content Violent content Content related to racial intolerance or advocacy against any individual, group or organisation Excessive profanity Hacking/cracking content Gambling or casino-related content Illicit...

A word about NSC and ads and stuff

You may have noticed that NSC has been ad-less for the last week or so, as Google have stopped them due to some of the content present on NSC. It's become clear that with nearly 10 years worth of loosely moderated posts on here, there is little chance of being able to retrospectively 'treat'...
