We're the number 1 football messageboard in the world based on Tapatalk usage. Seems about 300 people per day if the Tapatalk stats are right. Most from iOS, naturally.
No idea on the revenue side as I'm always tinkering with the ads, although mainly for non-logged in users as, somewhat...
I've already moved all of the BB stuff over so there's not much here.
Moderating is going to be more vigilant which, combined with the uprated profanity filter means we shouldn't get any dodgy old stuff lurking.
NSC earns some money from ads just being there and some for being clicked upon. We have no idea which is which. Some clicks earn more than others - again we have no idea which ones are more lucrative.
I would never encourage people to just wildly click on an advert. If it's something that...
Oh, and how much do we need Google?
Currently, we need them very much. NSC is currently losing £15 a day. Do the maths to work out the impact of that over a year.

No.
Adsense is my currently preferred revenue generating tool for NSC as it requires very little administration (ie my time) and is highly effective.

Probably not, no.
But that's the slightly bizarre thing about the way Adsense works - gambling content is not permitted, but gambling ads may be presented by Adsense on our pages. Indeed my Adsense control panel says that 6% of the ads presented on NSC are gambling ones.
Those are the Adsense rules, as simple as that.
What I can say is we have never been warned for gambling content and in the States there is a definite softening on gambling going on right now, so maybe it's not seen as a priority area for Google.
The Google Adsense content guidelines are as follows...
Pornography, adult or mature content
Violent content
Content related to racial intolerance or advocacy against any individual, group or organisation
Excessive profanity
Hacking/cracking content
Gambling or casino-related content
Illicit...
You may have noticed that NSC has been ad-less for the last week or so, as Google have stopped them due to some of the content present on NSC.
It's become clear that with nearly 10 years worth of loosely moderated posts on here, there is little chance of being able to retrospectively 'treat'...
