  1. Bold Seagull

    [Film] Spitfire: The Movie

Thoroughly enjoyed this as a read, contains many actual entries into the flight logbooks and first hand accounts of the engagements as well as setting out the entire battle period.

    [Film] Spitfire: The Movie

Well I've certainly not turned it into anything other than a reasoned chat about and interesting period in our history.

    [Film] Spitfire: The Movie

I think you've taken the discussion a bit personally? It turned into a general debate about the Battle of Britain, the Spitfire, the other aircraft. Like you said, you've not really offered an argument, but not sure why Trig has riled you so much?

    [Film] Spitfire: The Movie

I'm with Triggaaar on this one, but also with Hungry Joe that I wouldn't really get into a hypothetical argument about it, there is no doubt the Spitfire is a legendary icon. The 109 was a fantastic aircraft in its own right too, at the end of the...

    [Film] Spitfire: The Movie

Bit harsh to say the Hurricane is much maligned. It may not have the legendary status of the Spitfire, but never read or heard it maligned as an aircraft.
  7. Bold Seagull

    [Film] Spitfire: The Movie

The total number of fighter planes was about 63% Hurricane, 37% Spitfire. Both had their merits and differences, don't think you can say one was more deadly, had they not worked in tandem, we would likely have lost the BoB.
  8. Bold Seagull

    [Film] Spitfire: The Movie

I was at the High Hurstwood Summer Fete Saturday and a Spitfire did 4 low passes – they are undeniably magical awe inspiring planes, the wing shapes are just so beautiful you'd be forgiven for thinking they were done purely for aesthetics over being the best flying fighting machines.
