Well, it is a weak comparison in a lot of ways, but it showed the partisanship of fans in that he had taken Hamilton off in an incident, and generally seen as the bad guy to Lewis's good, along with accusations the Mercedes team favoured him as he was German, so they wanted him to win over Lewis.
Rosberg was boo'd on the podium, so not that different in that it was actually post race when all the actual racing was finished, so in some ways even more disrespectful.
Just adds to a narrative of not likely someone I guess.
I know, I'd line the streets too cheer them all on, but it's a bit like British fans booing Rosberg I suppose.
Yes, that questions his integrity and sportsmanship, so agree that is completely unfair. I guess we can't know really why...
Sky are probably more the problem than Froome himself. Seems lots of reasons the boos happen, perhaps the French remember Froome attacking Wiggo's yellow jersey the same race as Wiggo slowed the entire peloton due to Evans getting a puncture due to tacks - Wiggo was portrayed as understanding...
We do we all stand on the booing of Froome?
I'm torn between sportsmanship, and good old fashion partisanship. I would have thought for Froome, a boo is a lot better than a cup of urine. If you're going to have the best funded team in the race, say you're cleaner than everyone else, then have a...
Bardet won yesterday by 2 secs, followed by 2 riders, who were then 3 secs ahead of the 4th place rider, who was then 2 secs ahead of 5th, who was 6 secs ahead of 6th, who was 9 secs ahead of 7th.
The 10th place rider finished 1min 28 secs after the winner. The 179th rider came in 37mins...
The rule for taking on additional drinks or food is clear on a mountain stage and shouldn't be done from less than 10km out, Froome had the same penalty if I remember for a gel Porte gave to him after going back to the team car on the double ascent of Alp d'huez although he had plenty of time in...
Exactly. And it worked. Since Froome started leading Sky, we've not seen him (uninjured) and Sky shown up on a summit finish like that. Were Sky out bluffed!?
Yeah, but for each domestique used up getting Sky back on, one of the attacking group would have been used up trying to keep the gap - who was going to sacrifice themselves because that would have had to have been a very quick gentlemen's agreement between that attacking group that they were...
Exactly, they'd have had to effectively form a team of competing individuals. Froome still had 3 doms with him at that point, little did we know he was struggling...
No one was attacking that far out. They all wanted to be led up by Sky then attack at the end, which worked out as an incredible finish. They could have attacked, they wouldn't have worked together, then had nothing for the final run in, which is where they broke Froome. Brilliant racing.
GROENEWEGEN and BOASSON HAGEN are having great tours to be fair, the others, well, they're not even contesting these sprints are they? ???
Did he punch anyone for his 8th place!?
