This. Irritated me, especially when it will all be checked by VAR anyway. First priority is defending the ball, not calling for offsides. Especialy as I think it was him that was playing Son onside!

Well - that has passed me by completely!! Thanks both you and @PILTDOWN MAN - every day's a school day.

Is that actually in the laws? (and where). I can't remember seeing a player having to hang around for almost a minute before.

Law 5: Fine with that. Doesn't explain why he made Dunk run up and down the touchline alongside the linesman for 50 seconds after play had restarted? Restarted 33.34, Dunk allowed back on 34.23 - during which time they had a dangerous attack.

That's what I thought - but then we might have been pre-conditioned to think that as he did it in a Euro game? He did seem to indicate he'd got an arm in the windpipe. The main mystery was why the ref didn't let him come back on for ages.

Indeed. If he had been booked for the first, he would have been unlikely to have committed the second, so he'd have been unlikely to have been sent off.

And that bit explains it. Therefore not inexplicable.

But it wasn't inexplicable really. If you're referring to Maddison, then pretty much no PL ref is going to send a player off for that. And as for Romero, I thought he could have been booked twice - but it's all subjective.

Game management is a bit of a concern. If Baleba (I think it was him) hadn't wasted a crucial moment appealing for offside, he could have got to the cross ahead of the scorer.

Any news on Lamptey. Was he injured, or just knackered?

Agree. Didn't think much of the ref - should definitely have started booking them earlier, and let a lot go. But not their fault that we lost that game today.

Trying to win it. There was about three moments when it was crying out for a quick through ball for someone already running - but we checked back.

We could do with an attack! Haven't been up their end for ages.

Not the scorer - two others, but not him.
