Despite what I said earlier I do take on board the preference to avoid rail strikes. I wonder if Thursday 26th works if we are playing a 2nd XI v Lincoln / Ipswich 2 days later. Cardiff would probably not agree though, with playing Reading on the Saturday. Or Monday 23rd ?

Cardiff may not like playing just 2 days after their league match with Reading and just 1 day before they play Preston. They won't play Saturday v Reading Monday v Albion Tuesday v Preston will they ? ???

The problem is that league games get moved for the cup, so you could end up with 4 league games in 8 days even if you are playing a different team on the weekends the games were originally scheduled for.

Strike dates are too fluid to plan for. If the strike gets called off at the last minute for talks, and the albion miss an opportunity to play the match, does Paul Barber just bash his head on his desk and shout "d'oh" ?

So what do we do ? We can't therefore rearrange it for more than 2 weeks in advance as there *might* be a strike called. Best go large on buses and extra park and ride and get the fixture played before we get to the stage we have to play 3 games in a week. Newcastle already needs rearranging...

Reading v Fulham rearranged for Jan 24th. Surely albion will confirm that date as well.

Indeed. The club would have to go large on buses and extra park and ride. And any date further forward is at risk of the same anyway. At least Sky Bet is providing transport for the Cardiff fans.

Unlikely for Cardiff as they are OUT and play a league game v Reading on 28th.

There is also an international break in March which it won't be in.

24th Jan is of course a Southern Fail drivers strike, but I'm sure we all expect a 3rd world not fit for purpose railway in Sussex by now.

Perhaps they are waiting to see if Saturday 28th is possible before the date is finally decided. Would require the following FA Cup results : Newcastle to beat Birmingham Albion to lose to MKD Fulham to beat Cardiff Reading to beat Man Utd !!!
