:lolol:
I wonder what the egotist himself would think of a thread about him being derailed to discuss someone else's nationality.
It's all about Gus, don't forget.
:lolol:
But unless I halucinated, I heard an interview with Poyet somewhere where he said immediately after the Palace game that it would be the best time for him to leave.
Maybe, I don't really remember that, but I do remember him postulating that it would be the best time to leave after the match.
Nothing would surprise me with the charismatic serpent though - this was around the same time as his Reading shenanigans, afterall.
I remember Gus wistfully musing after the St Patrick's Day massacre that it would be the best time for him to leave at the point.
As it turned out - although he wouldn't have been understood for going - it would have been, and he'd have left with a great legacy.
( And it's not impossible that...
OK, how about if we'd had Chris Hughton in charge for Amex season 2 ?
Would the ceiling have been higher than with Gus ? ???
I think it would have been, and to this day find Gus' comments at that time insulting to the club.
But why talk about roofs( ceilings ) at all ?
Why was it all about Project Poyet ?
At an astoundingly sensitive moment why not just say something like 'Deeply disappointed, the club as a whole will look at this in the next few days, and see how we move forward from here ' ???
Yes, if he was referring to Burke he was right, but there was no indication that his 'ceiling' was Burke-related.
If we go up this year, he was clearly very ill-judged with those post match comments, which were quite frankly insulting to the club, and all about Project Poyet.
Don't know about others, but for me it's because of ( amongst other things ) his total disrespect shown towards the club at the end with his touting, and his 'ceiling' comments etc.
