More to do with the system than the personal imo, if you're going to defend deep and not have to rely on your CB's pace (and lack of it) plus only commit the odd man to our attacks (look at our lack of goals) then it would be hard for any team to score many against us.
You would have to think it came solely down to money then. I agree about the the bench warming, you'd think at his age he'd want as much game time as possible, but alas it looks like he's topping up his pension instead.
Its one last pay day for Upson, and good luck to him.
I'll be shocked if he plays more than 10 games though next season. Surely at 35 and no pace he's just been bought in as experienced cover.
Might be on my own with this but I'm not as disappointed as most on here, yes he was a good player for us but he's 35 now and personally I think he faded a bit in the second half of last season.
