Just my personal favourite. They are are all good. Forgot to mention that Berlin was quite reasonably priced and also interesting. I have not been but have heard that the Baltic states are not worth a visit.

Mind you, Krakow is fairly pedestranised so there wasn't much Jay walking needed.

Been to all 4 cities I mentioned. Edit sorry just seen your post above. I wasn't aware of any fines for Jay walking.

Great place to visit. On a par with Rome (but a lot cheaper), just behind Krakow and ahead of Prague in my opinion. All worth a visit. As already mentioned on this thread, we stayed in Buda but if I went again, I would stay in Pest, where the night life is. Buda is nice for the day time culture...
