I am sure when I was younger and watched Mansell winning it took them about 5-7 secs to change the wheels surprised it has sped up so much but there you go.

I hadnt taken into account the time taken to decelerate and then accelerate after the tyre change the time I said was the maximum time taken to change the tyres. Thanks I have learnt something which will be of interest for future races.

I thought that the average pit stop was 7 secs perhaps I am wrong. assuming that is wrong what is the average from leaving the track until rejoining taking into account the speed limit leading to the pits.

I am interested because it is an Englishman winning but have very little tactical or mechanical knowledge as to what the cars or tyres are capable of.

Surely with a 12 sec lead he has time to pit again and still come out 1st
