I am certain the recruitment team are fully aware of who is available within our given price range as this has been a concern for a couple of transfer windows.
I have reservations about the suggestion of Assambalonga at £10m as I am sure there are players as good in Europe probably Eastern Europe that would be much cheaper.
I think that he would be a great improvement on Manu and offer competition for Baldock. He has certainly given us problems in the past and is fast and tricky.
Average 1 goal in every 4 appearances when he played in The Championship with Sheff Utd who were relegated, so not too shabby but not top end of the Championship.
Just to use an example if we got promoted we could get Leo or similar back and have GM on the bench as needed and he would either provide good cover or even on occasions push Leo to start.
Many have said he can be during January but I am not sure. However if he could be recalled to sell him I am sure a challenging team will be after him as he has proved yet again his pedigree in this division.
People are saying that GM is too old for the Premier but could he not be used in that division in the same way that Hemed is now to come on as a new set of legs when the front man is tiring or getting no joy.
£3m would ensure he is here until he becomes a squad member in The Premier and is a pittance for what is at stake. If we do not buy him I am sure another club in the running will try to buy him.
Not that we could afford him but the kind of player we need is a Henri Lansbury type. I am sure that Pritchard would have filled that role irrespective of his display for Norwich. Do Spurs, Arsenal or Chelsea not have a similar player in the U 23s who needs games to push on?
