I would think it is more likely in the signing on fee than wages as that is a one off where as wages are on going and the details could leak out and cause unrest amongst other playersl

I often wonder if the players signing on fee as based on the saving on transfer fee eg player valued at £2m sold for £800k near end of contract so a saving of £1200k give the player £600k the only losers are the selling club.

That is correct I dont know enough about him, as per everybody else on here, and such can only give an opinion based on my interpretation of what I have read about him.

Or what position they hope to play him is more to the point. I obviously dont know but reading about him he appears to play further forward than Kayal or Stephens.

Just an observation from The Sun on Tuesday, Brighton have agreed to sign Dundalk forward Richie Towell. They have also got it wrong it seems.

I agree but they wouldnt have all signed had they been told they were going to be squad players. They must have all thought they will make the first team and not to help the U21s win their league. The same with Richie Towell he had many options apparently and had he thought he was signing...

Simple question if Richie Towell was brought in with no plan for the future why sign him? We are not short of midfielders. I accept that he wont be picked for the FA Cup game without proving himself in training but I cannot accept that CH had no forward plan envisaged for him.

Like you I know nothing about him other than what I have read and I rightly or wrongly formed the impression that he may be able to fill a more advanced attacking role than either Kayal and Stephens both of whom seem slow to get forward into the box and more content to sit between the halfway...

He played in Scotland under Calderwood who has obviously kept tabs on him plus he is 24 so not one for too, far in the future more like reasonably soon, this season or next?

As I have said I can see the logic in playing somebody in the role Tex played last season but to do so would mean losing 1 wide man. He appears to be a very forward minded central midfielder more so than Kayal Stephens and Crofts as none of them woukd get near 20 goals so to be just behind...

I think that reading between the lines of Richie Towells interview he is expecting to be in the starting line up or ag least on the bench rather than initially be back up. We have nobody to play the role Texiera played and I see him as that man. I feel that CH is a man who plays each team...

My point is that even without this rumour CH may be considering playing 1 wide man to allow a place for Towell. Who does he expect him to replace or has he just signed him to make up the squad numbers?

£7.5m would be very tempting,especially if CH is looking to re jig the midfield to accomodate Ritchie Towell.
