I think the term "Absolutely spanked the original" is perhaps a bit disingenuous to Chuck Berry, I just liked the The Stones version of his song a little bit more.
Does this absolutely spank the original?, no, the original cannot be bettered IMHO. But this instrumental version, by Rick Wakeman, who co wrote the song and performed on the original recording, is a stunningly beautiful version played as a tribute to his dear departed friend.
