For the rest of us, isn't Greek Cypriots/Turkish Cypriots handy shorthand? Or is it seen as offensive? As far as I know the Turkish Cypriots in London refer to themselves as Turkish Cypriots. The Greek speakers too.
Not so long ago a fair few of the Greeks wanted to be part of Greece, right...
I'm no expert on Cyprus but didn't the Turkish army invade after the coup d'etat by the Greek military junta? Of course, there's a lot (thousands of years) of history preceding this but as far as I know it wasn't just the Turkish being the bad guys.
