[Albion] Why do so many of our fans think we are still a 'small club'?

Agreed, it is a change in ownership rather than manager that we should be worries about in terms of a change in our fortunes. Swansea is the precedent for this.

To me can base is not a great measure either as the size of fan bases changes with success. I agree with your points and see them as further evidence that the big/small club thing is a nonsense. Football is about on field success and should be measured so.

Yes fair point and perhaps I was a little over the top. Just not sure the big/small club thing stands up. What eve measure you use if flawed.

[Albion] Why do so many of our fans think we are still a 'small club'?

We weren't a very small club back then. By many metrics we were a medium sized club down on our luck. Now we are a medium sized club riding our luck. I'll ask again why have you chosen first fan base out of our local area and now fan base in our local area as the measure? And why did you change...

[Albion] Why do so many of our fans think we are still a 'small club'?

I was a bit young to know but I wonder if this was said in the late 70s early 80s. Or by Charlton fans, Swansea fans, Oldham fans. The fans you are talking about didnt give a shit about us when we were shit and if it happens again they will ditch us again. Sorry but your big club forever idea...

[Albion] Why do so many of our fans think we are still a 'small club'?

My question was why have you chosen this to measure our club size? Back in the day (presumably similar days) I was telling people of our potential to be better than the div 3/4 team we were. Massive catchment area, nice place to live etc. So by those measures I was always saying we were a...

[Albion] Why do so many of our fans think we are still a 'small club'?

So your metric for the size of a club is how many fans they have from outside the local area. Living in Australia I can tell you that this is extremely transient and based on many factors. Currently there is a huge wave of city supporting kids over here. when I first got here there were loads...

[Albion] Why do so many of our fans think we are still a 'small club'?

The whole big club, little club etc thing is utterly meaningless. The argument goes round and round depending on the metric you choose to measure the size of your club by. It seems to be that most fans choose the metric that best suits their situation to measure their clubs size. So Leeds and...
