That's just bullshit though, isn't it. Caning and belting didn't make those kids respectful, just made them resent those in authority even more. Kids are no different to how they ever have been these days. Most of the youth are very respectful, a minority aren't.

Anyone who seeks violence and trouble lacks character and discipline in my book, organised or not. And of course drink and drugs are part of the problem abroad too. All the violence in French stadiums this year doesn't seem too organised to me for a start.

Same as it ever was... The portrayal of the 'youth of today' being as you describe by older folk and in the media goes back hundreds of years. I've seen plenty of adults at football (perhaps even more so than youth) act like absolute twats, anyway. There's been a lot of fan disorder around...
