    Student rail travel help please.

Update to this thread for all those with kids starting college/6th form next week. The latest Sussex Student Card that gives students 1/3 off of season ticket prices even before 10am (not to be confused with a 16-25 railcard) can be printed off here...

The Brighton Unizone card (he'll need a NUS card as well) http://www.southernrailway.com/tickets-and-fares/ticket-types/16/ represents good value for unlimited travel in the zone which includes Hove and Falmer. The other alternative is for him to get the free Sussex Student Card (he'll need to...

    Student rail travel help please.

Ok, as promised, update on my East Sussex Unizone query to Southern. After a lengthy email process showing poor customer service which in the end required a bit of nudging where it counts, I finally get a definitive answer: "In regards to the Unizone ticket being available for the East Sussex...

    Student rail travel help please.

Further update: I got a second response from Southern Customer Services on 21 August apologising for the delay and stating they aim to respond to my query within 5 days. Tonight, 15 days after the 5 day "aim" I sent another email. Just received an automated response saying they aim to reply...

Yep, saw that in the small print. Good to mention it though as I forgot to in my post. Thanks.

    Student rail travel help please.

The Worthing Unizone ticket seems to be the perfect solution for you. http://www.southernrailway.com/tickets-and-fares/ticket-types/16/ I haven't checked, but I doubt you'll beat these prices by buying daily? The Worthing Unizone is available for the following periods: Weekly: £16.90...

    Student rail travel help please.

Just to bring everyone up to date on this. I've emailed Southern Rail for an update on any plans for an East Sussex Unizone ticket (that would cover travel between Hastings & Lewes). I'm now in a queue with a reference number and they say they aim to respond in full within 7 days. I'll...

    Student rail travel help please.

Thanks. She'll spend around an hour each way on the train, so yes, a fair bit of travel time, but we reasoned it's good for her independence and it's where she really wants to go as it's the best in Sussex for music.

Nice find! Thanks. That really does look the ticket! I'll contact them and see what updates they have.

    Student rail travel help please.

To be fair I suspect it will all be nailed down on enrollment, and perhaps I should have been more insistent on the open days. I'm concerned that once the nuts and bolts are in place and we find out the true cost of travel it might prove to be a real struggle, which is why I've been trying to...

    Student rail travel help please.

Exactly. Although some days, if her first lesson isn't until later, then maybe. You can see why I'm getting myself all confused and befuddled = confuddled  Looks like the monthly 1/3 off season ticket price you quote maybe the best option more often than not so far.

    Student rail travel help please.

Thanks. The connexions360 site is where I've mainly been getting my info from already. I suppose I'll just have to wait until she has a college timetable in place before I can really get down to the nuts and bolts, but was hoping to have a clearer picture in my mind before that.

    Student rail travel help please.

The Sussex Student card does. See the info Lord B has just posted that is exactly the info I had before regrading this card (thanks Lord B anyway). I'm keen to know if any students have worked out the best option from experience. I suppose it will ultimately depend on her college timetable...

    Student rail travel help please.

That would explain what the college was saying about having their own card that can still be used during peak times. Would this be the Sussex Student Card then? The college website isn't overly helpful and I couldn't seem to get loads of info on travel on the open day, only that some...

I haven't no, so thanks, all advice greatly appreciated. It's all new to me and we're learning as we go along. I'll look into it.

    Student rail travel help please.

I know there's plenty of train travel experts and students on here, so anyone able to help with this please? Our eldest is due to start 6th form college at Lewes in September. Travel will be from Hastings by train each day. On enrollment (a week or so before the course starts) I'm assuming a...
