There's a difference between being open about issues affecting the upcoming match (e.g. squad, injuries etc.), and discussing his own future. He doesn't have to talk about that at all. In a pre-match press conference it'd be fine to respond "I don't have anything to say about that today", and...
This is exactly why saying whatever pops into his head in response to a question isn't a good idea, even if some people want to view it as "refreshing" or "honest".
There are good reasons why I don't lead with "I don't give two shits about your f***ing cable troughs" every time I have to go on...
