I am a member of a record collecting Facebook page and someone posted a photo of Fred Schneider's NYC house and specifically his vinyl roon.....think of a library but with floor to ceilng vinly instead of books. The stuff of dreams.

Quite a difficult question. Personally LCD Soundsystem were/are an important band for me. Ramones have given me a lot of enjoyment over the decades both on record, live and also in later years as a band I consistently used to listen to when running...It's Alive is one of the best live albums...

Regarding Pixies which are mentioned a lot, where's a good place to start? i never really got into this band in real time.
