The Wellington and Shakespeare's are both good down Kelham Island way (neither of them are actually on Kelham Island). Wellington's a Neepsend brewery pub.

From a "is it a decent pub" perspective, I'd back up the Beer Engine and Sheaf View recommendations on that thread.
Brothers Arms slightly further up the hill from the Sheaf View is good as well.

On the other hand, on my two attempts to get from Rouen to Dieppe by train, separated by about 10 years, the first time the train broke down halfway there and on the more recent occasion it was delayed by half an hour (and was already completely full as a result of a 2hour hole in the timetable...
From Darlington, I can catch trains operated by Northern, LNER and TransPennine.
All three are owned by DfT OLR.

Ideal age to be doing paper rounds and learning how the world works.
Cycling 300miles up the A1 to drop my ticket off would soon make them appreciate how lucky they are to be talented footballers.
I'd like them to give u-21s the job of going door to door delivering tickets to people who this isn't an option for.
It'd keep them grounded. And it'd be funny.
