This seems to apply at all times - not just around football matches! I can rarely by discounted tickets on the West Coast. The advance tickets for me to Sheffield work out at about £5 cheaper than a day return.

Mine's arrived too. Only booked Wednesday morning. Not bad seeing as someone had to write almost 4,000 names onto them.

I went to Ludlow recently, and the train I was going to catch home was cancelled (well, it wasn't cancelled - it set off from Cardiff late, and they decided not to stop at most of the stations to catch up). So, I had to spend an extra hour in a lovely town, having a nice cup of tea, and...

It's because every company has to pay every other company for something. Then they have to pay loads of lawyers to argue over payments to other companies, and to argue about whose fault something was. With one nationalised industry you didn't wouldn't have all of this.

Bought a ticket in BL3. If the upper tiers open, are you allowed to exchange at all - as I'd rather be upstairs! Now to sort the trains - I see some of mine around Preston are likely to be buses.....

Wouldn't that be nice! Maybe they'll do that for Sheffield - we can all get there in the morning.....
