I agree with this. If I was in the mix for a latter stages European ticket (as opposed to way down the pecking order), this is exactly the sort of game I'd be going to in order to bolster my points. Plus we are well capable of winning this trophy.

This is the thing: we have a squad capable of winning it, and this club has never won anything in 120 years, never mind RDZ.

I'm not sure how throwing a game in January helps us in a competition we don't play in until March.

Another vote for playing a strong side with a few of the kids involved in the squad. I am not sure there is that much of a downside in progressing deep into this competition really as we won't take it "Premier league/Europa league" seriously until the quarter finals if we get there. Until then...
