Yes but also because we have a system (first past the post) that guarantees two parties will always share power over the years and people with integrity and a genuine interest in change will never gain the levers of government. Every election is a two way fight and as such its a closed shop
Which is why I have no faith in any politicians or parties. I will vote Labour for the very reason you state in your opening line, but I have zero hope that it will make any difference to the sewer that is Westminster and the sewage that floods out of it
In fairness, a perfectly reasonable argument that I suspect many would agree with. Other football sites deal with this by making the main forum ‘football related only’.

A feature of emotive and/or political threads is the habit of some posters to resort to abuse if someone simply disagrees with their POV. I think its one reason why so many post only very occasionally or just ‘view’ but never post.
