[Albion] Albion Fans vs Ticket Window ****Official Bun Fight Thread****

I know loads are going already. That’s still different to the club encouraging it by offering up the possibility of tickets on arrival. It would be a mad thing to do.

Would just encourage people to travel without tickets which I don’t think the club nor the Dutch would want to do.

Couldn’t face a whole day being pushed around with football fans rather than going low key. Your attitude suggests I was right not to bother.

Yes. All versus English clubs. Worth reiterating - as some others have made it very personal regarding Marseille - that I don't have any beef with the way the club handled this. I'm simply pleased that they set the second tier relatively low as that acknowledged away travel is not the only...

In other words, totally different experience. As it would be almost everywhere except Marseille. You know best I’m sure. I’ve only watched matches in France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Iceland, Finland, Denmark, Latvia, Russia, Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Croatia, Belgium, Hungary, Bulgaria...

I’ve watched football all over Europe and never had a problem blending in so not sure I agree with that. 15-20+ countries without working it out. Arrangements in Marseille did not appeal.

Reasonable point but you’re comparing apples with oranges. Marseille away, penned in with very heavy restrictions away from the game, is not what a European trip is about for the vast majority of people - as slow ticket sales showed. A total anomaly. It’s unfortunate we drew them and reduced the...

The "best available' tip is worth knowing. I'll bear it in mind for the knockout phase!

You confuse 'availability to go to away games' with 'loyalty'. 220+ was fine.

I'm in the same situation as you.

Sure. The ones I know aren't young. They just supported other teams. I see a lot of people their age at away games.

As I said, don't have an issue with those people in tier 1 getting tickets. There's not going to be a system that works for everyone. It's just unfortunate this system works badly for me because of the need to make a living. I hope they continue to gear tier 2 at a level that gives a chance to...

I'm swayed because a fair few of the people I know who qualify for all these matches had next to no interest in the Albion before the club moved to the Amex. Just a passing interest in their local club but they'd go to watch Premier League football instead. Don't begrudge them their tickets - it...

I agree. I liked the queuing system. If you got a lousy place in the queue, so be it. Somehow felt fairer.

It would also make it very unfair on the vast majority of fans who have next to no chance on a game like this, even though they’ve been season ticket holders for decades. Not everyone has Saturdays off and can go to away matches - it’s a narrow definition of ‘loyalty’. I’m imagine that’s why...

Seems a fair summary of what probably happened to me. Got in very quickly but someone beat me to a seat and after that just kept getting the ‘not available’. Oh well. Saved me a few hundred quid.

That’s not a lot of time to pay though if anything at all goes wrong. Have had that issue with Ticketmaster in the past. I’ve also had the issue with thinking I’ve got tickets for big events, then finding them unavailable at checkout. Not unique to Albion - but very annoying regardless.
