This reminds me. As young kids we would often rummage around in the bushes of Peacehaven golf course for lost balls and sell them to golfers. It was quite lucrative.

I remember Morocco cafe...and Meeching Hall either next door or next door but one. I friend's relative had some connection to the chippy so we would occassionally go in there for free chips if we were over that way on our bikes (I lived on the valley estate).

I also had a seagull lottery round as a lad. My father had a round at the factory where he worked, off the back of this I set one up myself covering the roads where we lived. It was in his name but I ran it. I got a free season ticket and 10% of any winning tickets I sold. The benefits were good...
I progressed to working in the kitchen at The Coach House, Rottindean by the age of 15. I was earning around 15 pounds for a Saturday lunch and evening and Sunday lunch shifts. Seemed a fortune back then (early 80s)
