To be fair there is a loud minority with abandonment issues for whom he will always be the devil incarnate. And an honourable mention for the poster from North of the wall who never liked him in the first place.
During THAT game he was. And what fun we all had with the booing and screaming and the thrashing. A beautiful day!
A few things have reduced the animosity for most of us since then. His failure, RDZ's success and the passage of time too. On the other hand a hatred of all things Chelsea burns...
Dont forget that there were lots of rumours which are now NSC facts.
All I know is:
The silly Instagram post happened amidst the Arsenal interest.
That the club told him to sit on the naughty step for a game or two and then he came back playing as well as ever.
The club then auctioned him off...
Not quite my, albeit feeble, argument though. I am suggesting he would be anyone but Liverpool same as we would be anyone but palace. And not Leeds of course, but that is a given...
I believe Caicedo was a Man U fan as a child. Is it possible he just couldn't stomach playing for their long standing rivals? If offered palace or another team for roughly the same wage, what would we all do? Just a theory mind!
I agree, even Sanchez was just being a sulky tit because he got dropped. Cucu, on the other hand, he was a greedy prick.
So screaming in hatred at Cucu, booing for Sanchez and sniggering for Caicedo then?
I think most of us would have chosen Liverpool over Chelsea last summer. The wages can't be that much different and you get to play for Klopp in a team that is settled and challenging at the very top. Dumb decision.
"Flogged off" sounds a bit too casual to me. They knew Ali Mac was going and planned for it in the same "model" as Biss and Stroppy Trossy - player comes for a few seasons then we sell them on for profit. At the same time they fought very hard to not sell Caicedo, that was not part of the plan...
I thought the plan was to keep Caicedo and have Billy Gilmour Billy Gilmour step up to replace Big Mac? Good plan that almost worked except Caicedo forced a move and no one can complain they didn't get a good fee out of it all.
I reckon it was more of a mistake to not get fullback cover in...
