It was rather telling of the quality of the hotel that the staff were complimented (and rightly so) for reacting quickly and "clearing the homeless from the stairwells".

Whilst very sad for such an iconic building I always think it's an opportunity to rebuild and create something new. That building is gone, but it wasn't really very nice inside and had been run into the ground. Fingers crossed it's an opportunity to build something iconic AND useful.

Not much to save, you can see and hear the internals collapsing. I can't see the stacks lasting.

Roof gone, fire spread through most floors now and crews tackling it from all four sides.
