[Other Sport] Protester climbs onto crucible snooker table

we did this in another thread - those numbers are bogus, its about 80% of soy and ~30% of grain, which are minority % of total crops food, that are used for animal feed. land use is mostly vast tracts of land with some transient grazing, no use for anything else. its been hijacked by those who...

well i read it as increasing the profile leads to increased agreement on the issue, assumes awareness means support, so more people will join the cause. because if you are aware of this issue you must be in agreement its very imporant, and that their solution must be the right one. i heard...

[Other Sport] Protester climbs onto crucible snooker table

seems to be confusing publicity with support, on the basis they support the strategy so everyone else will. the thing is, those that actively support the cause are already in some way involved and engaged. if they want to gain support they want to reach those that aren't engaged in an...

to be fair i tried, but within seconds of Morgan cutting off the interviewee before he'd even started an answer, ranting about smirking, i gave up. i'm almost won over to their cause.

yes of course there are other factor involved, i assume we are willing to accept the higher costs to have the local production. Germany's increased dependancy on fossil fuels for energy might well balance this somewhat in the medium term.

why isnt the campaign "Stop using oil" and using the publicity to list products we should stop using. tell people how they can share things or reuse rather than buying new, which non-carbon based insulation materials are best, stop flying, etc. by stopping demand, we'd reduce the production...

[Other Sport] Protester climbs onto crucible snooker table

what this campaign is asking is for us to take an artificial moral high ground. stop local access to oil and gas, while we'll carry on consuming the vast array of products from oil and gas just importing from Norway, Russia, Nigeria and elsewhere. we're not producing it so that's fine. then we...

along these lines, there's an alternative view that the best path forward is to engage in large scale carbon capture and storage. since according to the AGW hypothesis, the damage is already being done, we'll need to do this anyway. so why not wind down the rhetoric, reduce fossil fuels where...

yes, everyone supports those protests they agree with, anti those they disagree. there were some significant differences though, like targeted action at the cause of the protest, and a clear, achievable aim.

i think i see what you mean on the wording. there are no subsidies of fossil fuels though, they pay billions in to the Treasury. the rest is from thier blog. its not misreading their general objective, they want people to live differently and see fossil fuels as only benefiting the rich.

if we stopped any drilling for oil, how will we raise windfall taxes on the oil companies? this group protestors want the end of western life. this is a piece from their website: so point one, if renewables are to be subsidised from fossil fuels, there needs to be fossil fuels, right...
