I think I had 10 or 12 grabs this morning, and the consultant said the scan is used.
Interestingly...he said he always grabs from any area of suspicion first...in case the patient calls time on the procedure! Smart guy.
Ok, a "little discomfort" downplayed it a bit ...my pain threshold isn't super high.
I was being nice for @Harry Wilson's tackle 😃 but seeing as he's had one before...here we go! "Medium discomfort".
Hope your surveillance goes well 🤞🏻
As for the procedure, Harry, I had one this morning...",Local Anaesthetic Transperineal Biopsy" if you're having the same 🤔.
Hospital in Bath, fantastic professional and empathetic staff. There was a little discomfort, but not unduly. Thank you, NHS staff 🙏🏼.
Hope it goes well for you.
Thanks for the post, that's fantastic news 👍😍. Could be a game changer.
The biopsies are indeed quite invasive (although necessary for sure at the moment). Any test that's more accurate than PSA assessment is great news.
Thanks, I'd missed the news report.
It's ok...by randomly clicking things I seem to have got my qr scanner to scan your qr code. Anyway... I've donated to some chap called Tim, apparently 😄.
Well done, all the best 👍. Ray
Hello Tim, well done, excellent effort.
I'd love to donate but I'm now feeling a useless technophobe...how do I scan your qr code with my qr scanner?😬 Help, anyone 🤣
As far as I understand, a better indicator (other than a very high PSA level) is a noticeable increase in one's PSA level...from one test to another.
So, I hope they gave you your actual PSA reading alongside your green rating 🤔.
Just shows how complicated the detection issue is: I have an enlarged prostate, PSA hovers between 6 and 8 (tested every 6 months) but my biopsy was clear. Best wishes 👍
Very good advice about a avoiding exercise the 24 hours before a PSA test...and especially not cycling (sitting on a narrow seat), and REALLY especially no sex for at least 48 hours before a test. Google it to get latest guidelines and avoid all risky activities in advance: the PSA test seems...
Yes, it's a small gland but can have localised cancer (i.e. not across the whole gland, as I understand). My prostate also has a swelling on one side. So, I too had some 24 bores in the biopsy. I think it's a case, sensibly, of ... while your there, check all of it.
