Not my favourite city in Malaysia. I'd go for Georgetown, Penang for it's vibe and even better food including very local dishes.

I live in Jakarta hence my username and have done for many years (family). Whilst I wouldn't recommend it to visitors (I would Bandung), I'd certainly rather live in Jakarta than Manila or Delhi.

Hmm. Difficult. Istanbul? Cape Town? Beautiful city and yes, edgy. Sydney? London? The world has some fantastic cities. Not Delhi, Manila or Jakarta.
