Without going looking back at all my cinema visits, this was the film I least enjoyed this year. I mean, I may find one I liked less that I've put out of my mind, but I really didn't like Fall.
I listened to that last week (well, I listened while working so kinda drift in and out). They go through them quite quickly. Hook not nearly high enough for my liking. They also didn't seem that high on Fabelmans(? from what I heard, like I said, I drifted in and out).
There's also this (imo...
She Said
A film based on a non-fiction novel about the Ney Yourk Times article about Harvey Weinstein's various assualts and wrong doings.
The story is the story. Often in films covering real-life investigations will often dramatise the impact of the investigation on the lives of the people...
Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical
Movie version of the stage musical based on the book that has also been made into a non-musical film.
I saw the stage show on the same day I first saw Hadestown. Hadestown is awesome, to the point by comparison Matilda didn't have a chance, so my excitement...
Strange World

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
Running at select cinemas for a week, before showing up on Netflix (they financed it) next month is the follow up to Knives Out. Rian Johnson (diretor) and Daniel Craig (Benoit Blanc) are both back.
It's another murder mystery, and so I don't want to say too...
The Menu
We mainly follow Anya Taylor Joy and her companion Nicholas Hoult who are attending an very exclusive, incredibly expensive fine dining experience, from highly regarded chef Ralph Fiennes, who has a very special dinner planned. There's a lot of (intentional) fun to be had at the expense...
Black Panther - Wakanda Forever
It feels like Marvel peaked with the Infinity War/Endgame double-bill. I wouldn't say they are in decline, but the quality of recent films, while decent enough, is a clear level or two below their best. I don't know if that is because they are focused on lower...
I'm not sure if unclear is the right way of explaining it, but I was trying not to spoil it.
I tend to enjoy movies that don't draw attention to the fact they are movies by overdoing the special effects and incidental music/soundtrack. So I liked that aspect, too. I described Gorman to a...
Watcher
An American woman moves to Bucharest where she is often alone while her husband settles into his new job. She notices what she thinks is a man watching her from an apartment across the road. There is also serial killer active in town...
This is very low key and deliberately paced/slow...
I've seend it get some decent reviews from people who live and work in the world of film and film review. It's a horror movie with a physical bad (i.e. it's not "elevated horror") and some times it's some people can really go with the ridiculousness with that type of film. So it's possible you...
Barbarian
It was certainly something. I liked the sudden changes in direction/tone. Not convinced the ending worked for me. I can't decide if I liked it or I think it was ridiculous.
I went to see Triangle of Sadness last night. After seeing the trailer.
It's a film in three parts. The first is an introduction to a main duo - a male model and his influencer girlfriend. This was an interesting segment, that could have formed its own film including discussions on gender...
Had a doublebill earlier
The Banshees of Inisherin
The latest from Martin McDonagh reteaming with the stars of one of his previous movies 'In Brugge' focuses on Colin Farrell, who discovers his hitherto best friend, Brendan Gleeson, has decided he doesn't like Farrell anymore. The trailer made...
