For sure, friend of mine did the same, took many years….……..if he’s happy to forgo the rent I imagine he’s either pretty confident of it going through or not very good at negotiating (or he needs it tenant-free to sell it)
I don’t know what his bargaining position is….I was only guessing he MIGHT have some leverage, but it’s quite possible the owner has been playing hardball thinking he’s got the club by the short and curlies and they’ve baulked at the cost. Can’t see any other reason why he would forgo what must...
If he doesn’t get planning permission (sure the locals will kick up enormously - 200 drunken students in the area for most of the year……..?) he’s going to be playing poker with Tony again……….by the time he knows, we’ll have managed to get through at least this season without it and whilst there...
Based on NSC there will be way more people not going at all than the number that usually park in Bennett’s. With people ‘encouraged’ to get there early trains aren’t going to be too bad.
Just wondering about whether the lane is too narrow for parked vehicles plus farm traffic………it’s a bit wider in parts towards the Housedean Farm end and there are often a handful of cars parked there on Sat/Sun mornings (almost certainly walkers using the SDW)
It’s the access road for Housedean Farm (and others including some kind of pumping station or similar)…….have noticed a lot of cars in layby East of the farm on matchdays but never taken any notice of whether there are cars parked in the lane. I run along there a fair bit and can’t recall any...
They have (assuming they have finished) actually upgraded and resurfaced the whole path……it was a bit knobbly with a few puddles previously when it was wet but will be v good now. Just over 2 miles to Woodingdean - 30 mins or so brisk walking (bit more on the way back after). Grim on a cold wet...
Fair enough……..I’m local but gave up on the Lewes train and P&R as options a few seasons ago, now prefer parking a couple of miles away and walking in as that way I know the timings……..it’s always half an hour :)
Wonder if it would be viable - only 19 days use a year pus a few cup games.......? Would be able to charge a premium price I guess (what does the farm shop across the road charge - I'd heard £250/season but unconfirmed - sounds low ??) so might work out.
