not difficult to bolt them on . . .I've just bought a pair of ever ready 70's ones, going to try and upgrade them to LED and fit to the cow horns on my new cruising project bike!
totally agree . . .I nearly hit a kid recently . . . nearly chased after him to offer him a set of lights, you can buy little LED ones for less than a tenner.
We all did our cycling proficiency when we were about 9-10 . . . only then were we allowed to cycle to school. . most cars were horse powered then so things were a little slower/quieter.
That's exactly how I cycled with my son. For a while I thought he was getting into it, but having spent a small fortune on a nice MTB he lost interest . . . 5 miles to school, he did it twice and decided it was too much like hard work.
Good question . . . As a kid we had to do CP, and get a pass, and a badge, before we were allowed to cycle to school. My lad did a kind of CP about 5 years ago, it was nothing compared to what we did in the early 80's . . . .. funding slashed etc . ..

mopeds are more like 60 kg, still heavier
granny wagons weigh more and do 15 mph, they need something too.
