    [Albion] Potter In or Out?

Totally agree. ManC and ManU have the most expensive squads on the planet (or ManU might be 3rd). The payroll cost vs final league position direct correlation is long proven. Obviously with outliers each season. Villa and Everton have defied EPL financial sustainability, spending massively...

    [Albion] Potter In or Out?

Personally, I’ll always want these debates and venting of emotions. On all sides. Sometimes some posters give the impression that it should be taboo to criticise individual players. Exemplified on player ratings threads where apparently there’s a floor of 6, bizarrely starters can never get a...

    [Albion] Potter In or Out?

I take that as a huge plus, of a largely analytical, cerebral fanbase, who understand that Potter’s having to work with a squad with a major flaw (strikers). Other than SheffU fans who similarly are staying loyal to Wilder, I think this ‘seeing the big picture’ understanding is fairly unique.

Anders Maupaysson and Bjorn Connellylund earned them the nickname De Ladugårdsdörr (The Barn Doors).

Maupay and Connolly as our lead strikers in the EPL next season. Shudder.

Not looking for a row, but which managers? Playing what tactics?

    [Albion] Potter In or Out?

Aren’t we a bottom 6 budget club? Eventually, clubs in that bracket drop. The quality of our strikers is poor to awful.

    [Albion] Potter In or Out?

I’m a consistent GP in. My view of all football, going back decades, is that the quality of fit players is almost everything. There was a quote once by Taggart where he admitted that. Guardiola has 22 great players and wins everything. Liverpool lose their 3 CB’s and lose a lot. Villa get...

    [Albion] Potter In or Out?

Based on the CP and WBA defeats, I have to agree with you. People are exaggerating our greatness, as if we’re worthy of 9 goal wins. Veltman missed a sitter, two missed pens and Connolly skying to the stratosphere, that was about it. Over the two games Guaita and Johnstone did NOT have to...

To lame, or not to lame, that is the question.

    [Albion] Potter In or Out?

I’m loyally pro Potter. But shirley there’s something to be said about a variation of tactics against a mass, low block defence. To lure them into a game of football. CP and Leeds scored 10 at the Hawthorns, others 3 or 4 goals.

    [Albion] Potter In or Out?

Radio Sussex had an interesting stat tonight. They stated that in 7 of our last 8 EPL wins, most un-GP like, we had inferior possession stats. The obvious conclusion that we prosper against teams that attack, whilst other managers feel confident that we simply don’t have the composure to ball...

    [Albion] Potter In or Out?

In hindsight, there was no harm in keeping him. 1-0 down against mass defence teams, a useful bloke to have in the box.

Muzza was a class act from Withdean onwards. A natural footballer, a brilliant finisher of every kind of goal. Sending rivals to the EPL with a ridiculous number of goals. That can’t be coached. What transfer fee these days for a 25 year old Muzza?

    [Albion] Potter In or Out?

In. Bloom took the punt with substandard forwards over the last 4 seasons, Hughton and Potter hamstrung. Giving 4 protracted and painful seasons of being loss specialists, our EPL future perennially on a relegation knife edge. We can be quite an arrogant bunch of supporters, recently laughing...
