Naughtily using tips outside the city, when staff questioned how much hard core rubble I was dumping.
If it stays awful for many months, Maresfield tip (20 minutes away) never has weekday queues.
My guess is that a load of ‘WFH’ and furloughed folk have been encouraged by the sunny weather to sort out gardens and junk.
I like that for dumping heavy stuff such as rubble.
I noticed that selfishness too.
At the busy Hove tip you cannot be selective, the Veolia blokes TELL you which bay you’ll be parking in.

Burgess Hill tip? I’ve used that before. Pre-pandemic, some horrendous queues down that lane, right up to where the burglars/driveway specialists keep their horses roaming free.
I used to live a couple of roads into B&H, but Shoreham Tip was nearest for me, so I used it for 7 years.
The jobsworths working there sometimes stuck their noses into your home address. WSCC talked about bringing ANPR as they had done in Kent.
