so ignore the children's mental health, and the parents, just to focus childless and small business. seems very short-term and short-sighted. and what happens when small business have children to home educate?
a noble thought. reality is a large proportion of children are then depending on the effort and input from parents to teach them. my lad's class is about quarter in class, half online with numbers dwindling each week. that leave a lot of kids falling behind and you can bet they are usually the...
when do you think it'll be safe for teachers and children, and should we keep everything else closed until that time? also is there evidence teachers at higher risk of death, last time we went round this they were one of the lowest risk groups.
so lets keep the shops shut. etc. there is a weighing here of children's education, their future and a low measure of risk for teachers. when would you like the schools to reopen, mid April? May? September?
we do, both are very effective after 2-3 weeks but not quite as effective as 1 week after 2nd dose.

bit of a faceplam, and sort of reason why i dont like Zoe app as a reference. its self selecting group providing data, not reliable.
meanwhile the latest React study shows 68% drop in infection, at only 0.44% prevalence.
sooner we stop using infection cases to drive policy the better. as vaccine is widely taken up which reduces or eliminates serious disease, hospitalisation or death, then its unnecessary to focus on it. leave that to the statisticans and healthcare mandarins who like to track it.
we can see the simulation here. the defaults assume 20% vaccination and R=2.3 (peculiar as it suggests rising), does indeed lead to high deaths next winter. change vaccination to 75% population and the R=1 (being pessimistic) and the infection, hospitalisation and death rates literally...
the R number is not the be and end all, its a fairly crass measure. chicken pox has basic R number of 10 yet we dont worry about it much do we? lets assume the "irreversible" is the guiding intent of the plan, being cautiuous and measured so we dont need to reinstate stricter restictions again.
