100% with you.
But we signed Veltman as a centre back. I think he'll play there. Anyway, the Sanchez thread's probably not the place to discuss our defensive options
A good nickname for him. He's so stony faced, i'm not sure who i'd rather play at Poker out of him and TB. OK, it would be Robbie ... but he's quite stony faced
The entire point of the academy.
It will save us having to go spend £60m on players per summer and will pay for itself with a smattering of 1 to 5 m sales.
Don't get me wrong, I love that we are bringing young players through and totally accept that there will be an element of taking the rough with the smooth.
Just think that in such a crucial position of the pitch, when we're in a massive scrap for survival, it's a massive call. I'll totally back...
I don't know if there's any mileage at all in the Heaton talk, but just say that was the case, the money that we'd have to pay in loan fee (or even transfer fee if perm) and wages are miniscule compared to the cost of relegation. Not saying he would def keep us up and what we have would take us...
Sanchez had a very good start to his Albion career and is undoubtedly a fine prospect (as opposed to a fine player).
However, we're balls deep in a relegation battle.
It's a huge ask to give him the responsibility for the rest of the season.
Not saying we shouldn't do it, but the club have...
Robbie's run of games at the moment is him convincing the hierarchy that they don;t need to go and buy a £15 to £20m goalie in January.
Sheff Utd, he had a great game. Far less convincing today. Looked to have a 15 minute collapse of confidence in the second half.
It's not unusual for...
Here's what I think will happen
Sanchez will get a run of games. Ryan will be on the bench.
The club are currently minded to sign a new keeper and are currently focusing scouting on this position ..... but ....... Sanchez will get 6 or 7 games now to prove that this purchase is unnecessary...
Yeh, the tip over the bar for me showed why he should be playing.
The other thing about size is that is somehow creates doubt in a strikers mind. I used to play up front and always felt I had to shoot closer to the post against a big keeper and missed more often
Only on this board.
That goalkeeping spot is still very much up for grabs
I wouldn't like to place any money on whether the keeper who finishes the season with us will be Sanchez, Walton, Ryan or AN other. I'll predict not Steele though!
The other thing about Sanchez, is that he's got the range and accuracy on his kicking to get us in behind. I bet Connolly would do well getting in behind some of his long goal kicks
