If that's the case may I be the first too:-
"Boooooooooo Bob".
Although you can tell what it means to the lad
"Look at his face, just look at his face".
I can imagine Big Bob plucking a cross out of the air and in the same move luzzing the ball into the right flank of the opposition half where Lamptey is already running full pelt.
Stop that - go on I dare you!
I just think it's good that 'we' don't have any of the 'I told you so' (good or bad) baggage that accompanies every other first team starter.
We can all just watch and say 'this guy is the mutts'.
Christ even this thread started in December with 'he can't do any worse' and 6 (six) thumbs up...
That's fine.
The gentle point I'm trying (and clearly failing) to make is nobody was putting him ahead of Ryan at the start of the season, not even the fans who had taken against him.
Even if those 'after timers' (who god forbid mustn't even show signs of 'weakness' on a faceless, nameless...
Much like none of us or Rochdale fans saw a list of PL clean sheets just 7 months after he completed his League 1 loan spell.
It's alright, it's ok to say 'blimey I never saw this coming certainly not so quickly'.
Nobody has to be ahead of the curve.
If anything I think it's better for all...
Rave reviews that equate to 9 PL clean sheets and an international call up for Spain just 18, 12, and/or 6 months after writing.
I have got to read those, can you please share them.
Yep it's so odd to watch.
We've gone from laser guided shots into the top/bottom corner to Kevin DB shooting straight at the keeper.
I still watch thinking 'if Ryan were in goal...'.
If Ryan were in goal Dunk would have got a touch on that glorious cross and steered the ball in'.
It can only...
Of course you're right.
But there would have been an alternative narrative:-
- if only the keeper was taller.
- if only the keeper commanded his area.
- if only the centre backs trusted the keeper.
I don't see how you've come to that conclusion from my post, it certainly wasn't my intention.
I'm quite happy with Sanchez too, and have always said he has a greater curve than Ryan.
My contention with the negativity towards Ryan was always - 'what do you expect when x is happening in front of...
Once again it was a set piece with at least 3 system failures (I can't even remember how the corner got awarded - we certainly played fast and loose with that in the first half) resulting in a goal scored by a fella who had no idea he'd scored.
What's most telling for me is the absolute dogs...
I also think Sanchez or any other Albion keeper, will do fine, this season.
Sanchez has done a regulation job so far.
He's done an excellent job in showing some fans that keeper isn't the ruin of the team.
I'm sure many of us will enjoy watching his progression.
For those reasons I can't see a...
Yep but he's actually making decent saves as well.
Something no Albion keeper has to do.
My defence of Ryan has led me to question £20m Martinez.
I'm still not entirely convinced by him as £20m is a lot of cash and would be our joint record signing.
He is also keen on the Hollywood save and I...
That all seems a bit airy-fairy.
I was very taken by Leeds' 20 year old keeper in their shoot out v Everton.
His stats for today are equally impressive, although I didn't see that game, so it wouldn't be fair to comment further.
Sanchez has been the very epitome of an Albion keeper.
An...
