In all fairness you can’t blame Sky/BT and the clubs for you getting it wrong.
The availability of ALL games was always short term and was actually meant to stop at the end of last season.
They never said it was going to continue until all the fans were back, so while I’m not disagreeing...
I think everyone needs to just take a breath and calm down a bit.
The current situation is far from ideal and clubs are having to make decisions on the hoof to try and make football available to the fans.
No one is being asked to pay for anything more than once, everyone has a choice.
The...
We did get links, but I think the clubs had been working with Sky/BT on that during the lockdown, maybe isn’t possible to activate it all again within a week.
What needs to happen is a short/medium term decision has to be made so that the clubs and the government can have a proper plan in...
Would have been the best solution.
But the broadcasters aren’t prepared to pay for more football and I think they don’t actually want any more games as they think the saturation is devaluing the product. They just want the 5 games per match day and not 10
The clubs had to pay out a rebate to the broadcasters because they showed every game. Barber himself said this couldn’t continue during the zoom call about fans returning to the stadiums.
I do think the clubs are in a difficult situation, they can’t come up with a long term plan because of the...
Point 1... yes that would be great, but they can’t do that because of the deal with the broadcasters
Point 2. Completely agree the price point is way wrong.
A question on your home games should be made available for free to season ticket holders, would you still expect your money back for...
Firstly I’d like to agree that £15 to watch a game on TV is too much.
However the point is ... nobody HAS to pay it and the club aren’t EXPECTING you to pay any additional money than you already have ... it’s about choice.
The games that have been made PPV weren’t going to be on the TV...
Profits all go into the pot and then shared between the clubs I believe.
Sky /BT not making any profit but will be paid for the costs of broadcasting the games and will obviously get additional revenues from advertising etc whilst showing the games.
Currently yes
But that had stopped.... after the international break it was only ever going to be the games that BT and Sky picked every weekend. Meaning half the games wouldn’t be on TV at all, so Sky and BT don’t stand to lose anything from this and it’s only the clubs that are going to be...
Why is it a bad move ?
The games they are making available for £14.95 aren’t currently being shown on TV so I’m not sure how they stand to lose anything.
