It's odd that Poyet played possession football and wanted the pitch at The Amex as big as possible as a result. Potter also plays possession (when it suits) but our midfield is horribly narrow and Lamptey often tucks in too much.
Honestly, I think Ryan suits our requirements well (for now). We're very much a crowd and block defence at times and his reflexes suit that. And, as I posted earlier on the thread, his distribution is excellent. Everyone's after a sweeper keeper these days.

There is a point that is valid, in that anyone not up to the ball playing game (and able to change tactics) will eventually be eased out - see Shane Duffy. That doesn't mean they are bad players though. Victor Valdes in the Pep / Barca...
