What’s the current method of access?

They certainly save space, however are very difficult to climb up and down, people often shin themselves on them.

Is it the loft then that requires this access?

I’m not sure where sells them but they are very steep and often only used as a more permanent access to lofts or indeed converted lofts that haven’t got PP or BR. Good luck
